September/October/November 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

If you will notice the above dates, you will see that this prayer letter includes three months, instead of two.

There are two reasons for this:

·         we needed to change the cycle of our prayer letter (so that our next letter will be Dec/Jan instead of Nov/Dec).

·         we had some exciting news, but wanted to wait until everything was final before we put it in our prayer letter.

As you will read, with Thanksgiving Day fast approaching, we have much to be thankful for.

MINISTRY

Recently we were able to acquire the property (one acre) adjoining The Lighthouse. (The funds were raised within our home church.) There were two existing buildings on that property – one is a house, which we will use for long-term furlough housing and the other building is a garage apartment, which we will use for short-term housing (for missionaries who are traveling through our area and need a place to stay).

While this was not the plan that WE had, we are so excited for the way the Lord has worked this out and we are so grateful to our church for the funds for this purchase. It allows us to get started on the housing aspect of our ministry right away.

We are still working with the utility companies, preparing to build more furlough houses on the back of the property and will build as the Lord provides. Please pray with us for the Lord’s perfect timing on this. We were disappointed that things were taking so long, but now see that if we had built when we wanted to build, we would not have been in a position to purchase this property. Praise the Lord that He can see everything and we can just trust Him with the details.

Attached are pictures of the two buildings on the property.

BLESSINGS

In October, Mark Sussmann from Colonial Hills Baptist Church, one of our supporting churches, came to help out with some repairs. He had offered to take care of some things that needed to be done…and BOY, did he work!

He worked on septic lines, water lines, cleaned the gutters, did some automotive work, helped with some equipment maintenance, and checked out some sound equipment that was donated for a United States church planting missionary. We are so thankful for the work he did and for his servant’s heart. By the time he left, we knew that these jobs were done completely…and that they were done right.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We also want to thank our supporting churches who, in spite of financial fears in the marketplace, have remained faithful in their giving. We are very grateful to you for your prayers and support. We hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!

In His Service,

Tom Palmer
